The Xiaomi Pad 7 is an impressive upgrade from the Pad 6, with smart changes that make it feel more premium. After spending time testing the tablet, here’s a detailed review of the key improvements.
Design: Sleek and Premium
The Xiaomi Pad 7 retains the all-aluminum build of its predecessor, but with a more polished finish. The Mirage Purple color, while not looking purple, resembles a soft blue similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s Sierra Blue. The design also includes a more squared aspect ratio (3:2) compared to the Pad 6's 16:10, making it slightly taller. Although it’s thinner than the Pad 6, the Pad 7 is slightly heavier, giving it a more solid feel.
Display: Vibrant and Smooth
The Pad 7 features an 11.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 3.2K, supporting 68 billion colors and a 144Hz refresh rate with adaptive sync. The display is also Dolby Vision-certified, making it excellent for streaming and content creation. Xiaomi’s display tuning, especially in Pro Color mode, is impressive, with low Delta E for color accuracy. While the black levels aren't as deep as OLED, this is one of the best IPS LCD displays available.
Performance: A Beast for Gaming
Powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, the Pad 7 delivers exceptional performance. With configurations up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, it handles gaming like a pro. I tested games like Genshin Impact at high graphics settings, and the tablet maintained smooth performance with 59 FPS on average. Benchmark scores are excellent, and this tablet is perfect for anyone looking for an affordable yet powerful gaming device.
Battery and Charging
Despite the large 8,850mAh battery, battery life could be better, with around 7 hours of screen-on time. However, the 45W fast charger can fully charge the device in about 1 hour 40 minutes, which is quite impressive.
Camera: Basic but functional
The Xiaomi Pad 7 features a 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP camera on the front. While these aren’t meant for professional photography, they’re good for video calls and scanning documents. The front camera offers a wide-angle view, making it great for video calls.
Accessories: Focus Keyboard and Pen
The Focus Keyboard is a standout accessory. It mimics the Apple Smart Keyboard, offering excellent key travel and backlighting. It also includes a small trackpad with gesture support, though it could be a bit larger. The Focus Pen, while responsive with 81-92 levels of pressure sensitivity, doesn’t feel as natural as higher-end styluses.
